The source of geothermal energy is heat that is drawn from deep within the earth. We utilize this heat to provide temperature control inside residential and commercial properties. Geothermal energy is eco-friendly and sustainable because it comes directly from the earth. We can pull the heat from the ground, hot water, and heated rock that is located several miles below the ground surface. For higher temperatures, we can even draw the heat from molten magma.

Geothermal Heat Pumps

The first 10 feet of the Earth’s surface generates temperatures that range between 50 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature range is perfect for cooling buildings during the summer and heating them in the winter. P&D Mechanical Contracting can tap into that resource and channel the air into a building via a heat pump, ductwork, and a system of pipes known as a heat-exchanger that control the temperature of the air as it passes through the system.

During the winter season, the heat pump draws the heat away from the heat exchanger and pumps it into the ductwork which distributes the heat throughout the interior. In the summer, however, the pump does the opposite. It takes the warm air from the inside and pumps it into the heat exchanger. This leaves the building cool on the inside.

What are the Benefits of Geothermal Heat Pumps?

There are several advantages to installing a geothermal heat pump in your home or business.

High efficiency. You will save up to 50% on your heating and cooling costs annually. You will notice these savings as soon as we install the entire system. This is because geothermal heat pumps use far less energy than standard HVAC systems.

Clean energy. Heat pumps use renewable, natural energy. Since there is no internal combustion, you don’t have to worry about carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, or any other type of gases. Everyone inside will breathe cleaner air.

New & old properties. Whether you are building a brand new structure or want us to retrofit your current system, we can custom design your entire network to your exact specifications.

Noise reduction. You will be impressed with how quiet a geothermal system can be. You don’t have to worry about loud compressors and fans. Indoor units have the same noise level as a refrigerator. You’ll barely notice that it’s running.

Low maintenance. Geothermal equipment lasts approximately 25 years. During that time, you’ll rarely have to call on us to perform repairs or even routine maintenance.
